Two updates, both with video, in the news this week. @U2 brings you the best in U2 news.

Bono Speaks At The Virtual G7 Summit

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi hosted a virtual G7 meeting to discuss climate change with global leaders from around the world. A few luminary speakers from outside of politics, including Bono, also joined to speak at the event. Pelosi shared Bono’s nine-minute speech on Twitter and Facebook.

Bono talks about how he now looks up to global leaders like Madeleine Albright and Jim Yong Kim the same way he looked up to Bowie and The Beatles when he was growing up. He describes them and others as the “guardians of liberal democracy,” and how leaders like those in the G7 are important to maintaining the health of democracy as well as fighting authoritarianism around the world. “You on the left and you on the right have so much more in common than the alternative that wants to replace you,” Bono said, imploring the politicians to remember the importance of freedom.

U2 Relaunch Their YouTube Channel With New HD Videos

U2 has been busy behind the scenes giving fans something we have requested for years: HD versions of never-before- seen footage and music videos. They are kicking off the campaign on Friday, September 18 at 12pm EST with the debut of the Kevin Godley-directed “Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of” music video. This HD digital release pairs well with the acoustic version of the aforementioned song they released last week in promotion of the All That You Can’t Leave Behind reissue. U2.com notes there will be weekly releases like this available exclusively on their YouTube page.
