Week In Review: July 16, 2020
As always, AtU2 brings you the latest in U2 News.
Another Week Of U2 X-Radio
Week two of U2 X-Radio on Sirius XM saw a handful of fans take to the airwaves to DJ their favorite U2 “chunes,” notable among them comedian and actress Phoebe Robinson (@dopequeenpheebs). Paul Oakenfold turned up the groove in another episode of “Discothèque,” while John Kelly interviewed singer and songwriter Judy Collins on the July 12 edition of “Elevation.”
In the weeks to come, The Edge will interview Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine for “Close To The Edge,” airing on July 16; filmmaker David Lynch will guest on the July 19 edition of “Elevation.”

Bono Slides Into The DMs Of The U2 Text Community
As we previously reported, U2 have launched a text line via Community. The Edge occasionally “texts” the number, and fans may also use it to submit their top five U2 songs, to apply to be featured on episodes of “Desire” on U2 X-Radio.
This week, fans received a surprise when Bono sent a recorded audio message. You can listen to the audio here, but we’ve also transcribed it:
“Hey, it’s Bono. I hear The Edge has taken control of our Community. Any issues, though, send them my way. I may not be the best at replying, but rest assured, I will be watching.”

U2.com To Stream Vertigo 2005 // U2 Live From Chicago On Saturday, July 18
For the past several months, U2.com has held livestreaming parties of U2 concert films, just for subscribers. U2 eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE – LIVE IN BERLIN kicked off the series in March, followed by Zoo TV: Live From Sydney in April and U2 Go Home: Live From Slane Castle in May. Next on the docket is Vertigo 2005 // U2 Live From Chicago, from the band’s May 9 and 10 shows in Chicago in 2005. The film, directed by Hamish Hamilton, saw the live debuts of several songs from How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, including “Miracle Drug,” “Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own,” “Love And Peace Or Else” and “All Because Of You.”
The livestream kicks off on Saturday, July 18 at 12pm PST/3pm EST/8pm BST. Subscribers who can’t make it to the live event will have access to the show on U2.com for 48 hours after the initial stream begins. As with the previous viewing events, fans can live tweet the show, post photos and reviews and live chat with the hashtags #U2Vertigo and #U2getherAtHome.
