Peter & The Wolf Art Auction
November 21, 2003, Christie’s, New York
Bono’s artwork for the Peter & The Wolf project fetched $368,000 in bidding at Christie’s auction house in New York. The auction included illustrations drawn by Bono and his daughters Jordan and Eve, and additional works on paper related to the project. Bono was joined by his wife Ali, along with Peter & The Wolf collaborators Gavin Friday and Maurice Seezer. U2 manager Paul McGuinness also attended, along with Bono’s close friend (and fellow artist) Guggi. Proceeds from the evening’s events benefit the Irish Hospice Foundation and hospice care providers around the world.
The Irish Independent has reported that six paintings were won by an Italian art dealer.
