May 16-17, 2004, Philadelphia, PA
Bono made back-to-back speaking appearances in Philadelphia, starting with the launch of a new DATA initiative called “The One Campaign” on Sunday, May 16. The initiative aims to rally Americans to fight global AIDS and extreme poverty. The campaign’s web site offers supporters a petition to sign in support of the effort.
On Monday, May 17, Bono served as commencement speaker at the University of Pennsylvania. He also received an honorary law degree from the prestigious Ivy League school. @U2’s Marylinn Maione covered both events.
